Bitumen to do civil works at Zim Cyber City

The construction of Zim Cyber City, situated in the serene landscapes of Mount Hampden, has been upscaled, with reputable firm, Bitumen World, yesterday signing a contract to start civil works at the site.

Completion of the civil works will fast track the construction of 50 modern villa apartments out of the 233 proposed units expected to commence soon.

Zim Cyber City is the first Mulk International real estate project in Zimbabwe managed through its locally registered subsidiary Zimbabwe Global Investment.

Speaking yesterday at the signing ceremony, Zimbabwe Global Investment chief executive Tendayi Hlupo-Mamvura said Bitumen World was the main contractor for the project.

“It is significant because the work that they are doing is the backbone of everything else that will be set up,” she said. “We are doing this project correctly, taking the best that we know to be available in the country to work with so that we give a guarantee of good workmanship and work that is done with integrity.”

Zimbabwe Global Investment technical services executive Tawanda Mukarakate said Bitumen World will be developing roads, storm water, sewer reticulation and part of the water body. Bitumen World operations manager Chris Seager said the project will be split into phases and the firm feels privileged to be partaking in the project.

“Phase 1 has already commenced and should take four months to complete. Thereafter we anticipate eight to 10 months to complete all the civil works on this Zim Cyber City project,” he said.

“We look forward to providing our client with a top quality product.”

Zimbabwe Global Investment also signed a memorandum of understanding for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

The cyber city, bankrolled by Mulk International, will make Zimbabwe one of the African countries with a smart capital city built from scratch.
