Preparations for Black Opal Face of Zimbabwe are on course with the grand finale scheduled for next year.
Now in its second year, the contest runs under the theme “Shungu dzemwoyo, Izifiso zenhliziyo, Kick-start your dreams”.
Tanaka Ngorora, the spokesperson for the contest, said to qualify would-be contestants should buy their products.
“To enter the competition, one has to buy Black Opal products worth US$30 including any colour product like lipstick and mascara. Thereafter, attach an A6 size photo of your face only and receipt to the entry form. We will then decide which photos qualify to be in competition for that month,” he said.
From this November till March 2014 BOCZ will be selecting three finalists with the highest votes.
“Each month three finalists will be chosen and only 15 will go through to finals slated for May 2014. Big prizes are to be won this year including cash. Our prizes this year are big and better as we are trying to empower ladies,” said Ngorora.
The queen will walk away with US$8 000, first runner-up will get US$4 000 while the second runner-up will get US$2 000.
Participating outlets include Truworths, Edgars, Jet, Barbours, Greatermans and selected pharmacies countrywide.
Last year, 19-year-old Betty Moyo of Chitungwiza won the title and a trip for two to New York for a week and US$3 000 spending money.
