Blackrock maintain winning ways in Mat North league

ZIFA Matabeleland North Division 2A league pacesetters Blackrock proved their serious intentions of playing in the Southern Region Division One League next year after demolishing Amagagasi Under-19 5-0 at Chinotimba ground in Victoria Falls at the weekend.

The log leaders were ruthless and grabbed their goals through veteran Timothy Chuma’s hat-trick, Shingirayi Munotengwa and Livingstone.

Hotspurs Leopards also continued to breathe down Blackrock’s neck with an equally impressive performance in the 3-0 against Shumba Stars, with a Denzel Kutadza brace and Madodanda Lunga’s goals keeping them in contention.

In other matches, Nengasha Stars derailed Hwange Reserves’ climb up the ladder by holding them to a 1-1 stalemate. Bambile Sibanda scored for Stars, while Tonderai Songore hit the net for Hwange’s development side.

Baobab Rovers silenced a stubborn Ingagula 2-0 at Megawatt ground, thanks to a brace by Tinashe Mushazhirwa.

Dete side Iwisa Sparrows edged Corinthians 1-0 at Chinotimba ground courtesy of Warren Ngozo’s strike.

Trumus Warriors and OT Lions Academy played to a goalless draw in a tightly contested match, while third-placed Classic Luyando walked over Lukosi Pirates.

In Binga, a cracking encounter between top sides Lunda and Siavwandu ended in a 1-1 share of the spoils. Simon Munkuli scored for Lunda and Siavwandu responded through Biggy Munkombwe.

Muchesu Bombers’ weekend turned into a nightmare after they were hammered 0-3 by new side Saba FC. Gareth Mumpande, Elvis Mumpande and Jonah Mumpande were on target.

Siansali and Sowa United shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw, with Siansali scoring through Sandu Mwembe and Lawrence Madzivire, while Sowa got their goals from Musaleba Munkuli and Livary Mutale.

Kamativi thrashed Lubanda 3-0, with Albert Tembo, Odwell Tshuma and Thamsanqa Moyo on target.
