BLANKET Mine stretched their unbeaten run to 30 matches with a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Sabi Gold Mine, moving closer to securing promotion to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The Gwanda-based side is now just six points away from sealing their place in the top flight, with promotion potentially confirmed this week if results in the midweek and weekend fixtures go their way.
Blanket Mine sit comfortably at the top of the table with 74 points, seven ahead of second-placed Kwekwe United, who beat Tongogara 2-1 at Battlefield Grounds.
Air Force of Zimbabwe side Chapungu slipped to third place following a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Grain Tigers, a result that further complicates their promotion ambitions as they trail the leaders by 10 points on 64 points.
Blanket Mine need to win their next two matches to maintain their push for promotion, beginning with a home derby against ZRP Gwanda on Wednesday before travelling to face Shurugwi FC at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Kwekwe United will host FC Platinum Under-19 on Wednesday while Chapungu welcome Shurugwi FC as the promotion race gathers momentum.
