IT was all bling and glory at the Rainbow Towers last weekend when Tynwald Primary School held their inaugural sports awards.
The event started at 7pm with star pupils posing with their parents on the red carpet. The awards saw the recognition of more than 50 pupils excelling in different sporting disciplines such as volleyball, hockey, taekwondo, soccer, netball, chess, rugby and swimming walking away with medals.

Cool Lifestyle in the form of yours truly was at hand to present the eight silver medals in all disciplines.
“Wow I am happy that the Cool Swag Centre managed to come for the event and I am speechless. Thought you guys were untouchable,” said Ruvarashe, a staunch fan of Cool Lifestyle.

The Male Sportsperson of the Year award went to Charles Gamhiwa (12) while Tinotenda Chitate (12) was voted the Female Personality for 2013.

Charles is an all-rounder who plays basketball, rugby, volleyball and taekwondo and he also won something in most of those categories.
The young lad, who is 1,9 metres tall, was the talk of the night as he repeatedly scooped awards before landing the final accolade of the   Sportsperson of the Year.

In an interview, soon after the awards ceremony, Charles said he was happy with these achievements and hopes to do more.
He said he wishes to enrol at Tynwald High School next year for his Form One.

Grade 3 pupil Lenon Zange, who scooped the Most Promising Award in the rugby category, said his dream was to become the top player.
“My role model is Richie McCaw from New Zealand. I like him because of he is big enough to take the boshes and bashers around the breakdown.

“He is skilful. I also want to play for the national team when I grow up,” he said.
