VUMELAN’ isangoma hitmaker, Khulekani “Khuxman”Bethule has this year disappointed his legion of fans by failing to come up with another Christmas blockbuster.
Last year, during this time, his single Vumelan’ isangoma (Wee-MaNcube) had already started receiving heavy rotations in night clubs, parties, as well as massive airplay from local radio stations.
Local music lovers mistakenly thought the house track was a smash hit from down south due to its unique sound, synonymous with South African music.
With the year nearly coming to an end, local fans have been eagerly waiting for another surprise from the musician, but to their disappointment, Khuxman appears to be lying low.
Some prophets of doom have been quick to conclude that the Bulawayo-based musician was a one-hit-wonder.
Those sympathetic to him are hopeful that Khuxman will drop an early Christmas gift that will match or surpass the standards of his previous hit.
Saturday Leisure caught up with Khuxman who said the delay in releasing another album was due to financial problems.
“I know I have delayed dropping a new album this year but that does not mean I am a failure,” he said.
Khuxman said he was also held-up by commitments on the work of Vumela Sangoma video. The video is said to be out.
However, the musician has promised fans that he will be belting out two singles, Mzwazwa and Ababulali at the end of this month.
He said the singles would feature other local artistes such as Likhwa okaNcube, Zibozi, Shabbs and Djembe Monks.
The musician also dismissed his critics saying they should watch the space as his singles will be more invigorating than Wee-Mancube.
“The singles will elevate me to a greater level that is much higher than that of my previous album.
“Above all it will be up to people to judge if my music has matured or not,” he added.
Khuxman, who shot to fame with his popular song MaAfrica, performed at the Nama awards held in Bulawayo in February.
