À BLOOD-STAINED coffin was on Sunday dumped at the house of a traffic police officer’s house in Msasa.
Constable Eronia Payesa, 42, who is based at Harare CBD Traffic, woke up to find the coffin dumped in her yard.

The coffin measured 160cm by 57cm and was empty.
Constable Payesa’s husband, Dumisani Majaheni, an employee at the Registrar General’s Office, then reported the mysterious incident to the police. Upon opening the coffin, a white cloth with blood stains was found inside. Another red cloth was tied on one of the coffin handles.
“One of our children, aged 11, was the last to enter the house on Saturday evening.
“He left the gate unlocked and we were shocked to see the coffin dumped in the yard,” said a relative of the couple.
The coffin was first seen by one of the family members when she woke up to do her house chores.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the case saying investigations are in progress.
“Police are investigating circumstances surrounding a brown coffin found at a house in Msasa.
“We will furnish you with further details in due course,” said Comm Nyathi.
