ORGANISERS of All Star Party in Bulawayo say the this year’s theme, “Colour Splash”, was inspired by the euphoric scenes that engulfed the country when people from all races and tribes joined hands to celebrate Robert Mugabe’s resignation as president.

The annual party, in its fifth edition, will tomorrow be held at a secret location. It is known for its high level of organisation by Bulawayo’s urban youth.

This year it will feature performances from Cal_Vin, 2 Yung, K Breezy, ASAPH; South Africa based Yung Tyran, dance groups Megatronz and Super Geeks.

On the DJ front are Tick Tock, Keezy, Kananjo, Slamma, Dakadu and Dazzie.

After the announcement that Robert Mugabe had resigned last month, Zimbabweans from all walks of life partied on the streets with blaring car horns while waving flags, singing, dancing and cheering.

Leeroy “Roy” Mufudzi, one of the organisers of the All Star Party, said they want to replicate that mood this year at the All Star Party.

“We decided to do something that was cool after we were moved by Zimbabweans coming together as one to celebrate the new era. The streets of Zimbabwe especially Bulawayo were filled with citizens, regardless of race or colour, as they joined hands in celebrating,” said Roy.

He said they also wanted people to watch the city’s top performers and up-and-coming artistes on one stage.

“The All Star Party has always been a platform for young local talent to show case. This year it’s a mixture of seasoned and up-and-coming artistes as the line up has new kids like 2-Yung on the same stage as Yung Tyran, ASAPH and Cal_ Vin who are topping local radio charts,” said Roy.
