VETERAN journalist and researcher, Munyaradzi Huni, has urged Bob Nyabinde’s sons – Agga and Albert – to unite and keep their father’s legacy alive.
Nyabande (68) died on December 23, last year, after suffering from a stroke.
Former Sunday Mail Deputy Editor Munyaradzi Huni compiled the biography titled “The Headmaster With A Guitar: Bob Nyabinde”.
In his address, during the question-and-answer session at Gulez Gardens in Kwekwe, Huni said:
“Their father was a brilliant artist who worked hard to achieve his status and I just want to encourage them to take lessons from him,” he said.
“There were times when it was hard to interview Bob Nyabinde when he was ill.
“We had to be patient enough to ensure that we interview him.
“He left behind a legacy that should be protected by his sons.”
Huni said part of the proceeds from the book sales will be given to the Nyabinde family after clearing production costs.
“It was not easy to come up with this biography and we incurred a lot of costs in the process.
“We hope to ensure that we meet the production costs and assist the family with part of the proceeds,” he added.
Clive “Mono” Mukundu, Kireni Zulu, Stevie “Dhongi” Makoni, Victor Kunonga, Agga and Albert Nyabinde performed at the event.
Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi’s widow Daisy graced the event.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Reaction, Arts and Culture, Nicholas Moyo, was the guest of honour.
Music promoter Josh Hozheri, who worked closely with Nyabinde, facilitated the event.
“I had a good working relationship with the family and I would like to pass the same love to his sons – Agga and Albert.
“I have seen them grow and I would like to be part of their history and assist them to go far in their quest to keep their father’s legacy alive.”
