TWO suspected bogus estate agents from Bulawayo have been arrested for allegedly defrauding a home-seeker of $13 000 after selling him a residential stand without the owner’s knowledge.

Progress Ndlovu (43) and Wilson Banda (53) allegedly forged Mr Henry Muzhari’s title deeds and sold his residential stand in Newton West to Mr Blessed Dube.

Their accomplice Jessina Mugabe (35) is still at large.

The trio allegedly operated from a shop in the city.

Ndlovu, from Cowdray Park suburb, and Banda, from Kensington suburb, were last Friday not asked to plead to fraud when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Franklin Mkhwananzi.

They were remanded in custody to November 3 for trial.

Prosecuting, Mr McLean Ndlovu said the trio duped Mr Dube of $13 100 after promising him a stand in Newton West suburb last year.

“On August 10, 2016, the accused acting in common purpose met the complainant and Banda produced a fake national identity card with his face but the name of Henry Muzhari,” he said.

Banda later produced fake title deeds in Mr Muzhari’s name in respect of stand number 211 Newton West.

Mr Ndlovu said Mr Dube paid $13 100 for the stand as well as drafting of an Agreement of Sale.

He later discovered that the sale was not genuine and reported the matter to the police leading to Ndlovu and Banda’s arrest.
