Boltgas expands into Moza

coastal ports, and is now on the verge of entering the Mozambican market.

Mozambique is one of the fastest growing markets in the sub-Saharan region has over the last two years registered phenomenal growth.

“We have been well received in Zimbabwe and South Africa and now have a customer base in Mozambique that we believe could better be serviced if we open our doors in that country,” said a spokesperson for Boltgas International.

“Our customer philosophy places a lot of emphasis on reducing turnaround times and being within earshot of our customers. Mozambique is just where we want to be in the immediate future otherwise our team has more regional markets on the radar that we intend to penetrate once we have convincing business cases on them.

“The potential in these markets is quite huge,” he added.
On Zimbabwe, the Boltgas spokesperson said the future was looking promising once the uncertainties spawned by the elections have dissipated.

Through their flagship, Boltgas Engineering, has been involved in a number of projects in the area of health, power, mining and construction.
Mr Onias Sithole, the operations manager for Boltgas Engineering, said they were also actively involved in communities without which they would not have achieved much.

As part of their corporate social responsibility they have partnered communities in projects that provide jobs for the youths while adding value to societies.
One of their most celebrated projects is the Zvishavane Vocational Training Centre where they have joined hands with Government in one of the shining examples of Private Public Partnerships (PPPs) focusing on infrastructural development and skills training.

From 2010, Boltgas Engineering has revamped the training centre, from its dilapidated buildings to equipment while providing the institution with learning material and empowering students passing through the institution with the technical knowhow.

“This has been made possible by the support we have received from local mining companies that have been giving us projects in the Midlands Province, i.e. Rio Tinto Murowa Diamonds, Mimosa, ZMDC Sabi Gold and Unki.

“Through their support, we have been able to give back to communities by creating a platform for skills development for Zvishavane and its hinterland,” said Mr Sithole.
“Rio Tinto Murowa Diamonds was the first to appreciate this project in 2010 when they gave us the first contract that enabled the project to survive.”

The principal of the centre, Edison Tagwira, lauded the work being done by Boltgas saying more than 40 students have benefited from the project and graduates have gone on to make a huge difference in their localities.

“Such partnerships are important for enterprise development, which feeds into economic growth. Our belief is that students need access to opportunity that nourishes their technical grasp of issues and the platform to test their skills so that they can apply them once they leave the institution,” he said.
“We don’t wish to produce workers but graduates who become employers soon after earning their qualification, be it in boilermaking, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering,” he said.

“Because Government is overstretched in terms of its resources, we have found partnerships like the one we have with Boltgas rewarding.
It has enabled us to upgrade our facilities by repainting our buildings, repairing broken ceilings and roofs, replacing shattered windows and refurbishing equipment in our workshops while leveraging on that relationship to secure industrial attachments for our students.

“The ultimate beneficiary in all this has been our communities and the centre itself. In our case, we also got two boreholes and water reticulation system, including furniture through our partnership with Boltgas,” said Mr Tagwira.
