ZIMBABWEAN Elvis ‘Bomber’ Moyo, who recently won the EFC heavyweight championship, will defend his title against longtime rival, DRC’s Matunga Djikasa, at a venue and date still to be announced.

Following his victory on Thursday, Djikasa immediately challenged Moyo to a fight, leading to a tense face-off between the two right after the final bell. Moyo accepted the challenge without hesitation, saying he’s been waiting for this moment for years.

“This fight is personal. There’s been bad blood between us for a long time, and now I finally get the chance to settle it in the cage. I’m not just fighting to defend my belt, I’m fighting to prove a point,” said Moyo.

A two-year-long rivalry between Zimbabwe’s Moyo and former EFC champion Djikasa was nearly resolved in a brutal bare-knuckle (umbhaka) showdown last year, but the match was called off. What began as a heated war of words is now set to be settled under the EFC spotlight.

The rift began when Djikasa taunted Moyo after defeating his training partner Vandam Mbuyi in 2022. At that time, Moyo was both coach and sparring partner for Mbuyi in the title fight held in Johannesburg.

After the bout, a video circulated showing Djikasa charging at Mbuyi’s corner, where he aggressively taunted Moyo through the cage. Djikasa punched the Hexagon fence separating him from Moyo, prompting Moyo to attempt scaling the cage in retaliation.

“He crossed a line when he went after my fighter. I am going to make sure he pays for it when we meet.”
Mbuyi recovered from the knockout dealt by Djikasa to defend his corner before security stepped in to separate the fighters.

“I have faced world-class opponents before. Djikasa might be tough, but he’s not unbeatable. I’m stronger, smarter, and hungrier than ever.”
