ZIMBABWEAN heavyweight pugilist Elvis “Bulawayo Bomber” Moyo is ready to explode tonight at the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) Africa 73 bill when he squares off against United States of America’s Jared Venderaa.
The Bulawayo Bomber will trade leather with “The Mountain”, as Venderaa is popularly known, at Sun City Resort in South Africa’s North West province.
Moyo, who has eight career wins from 13 bouts, will be hoping to take his victory tally to nine when he returns to the ring 10 months after his win on points against Nico Yamdjie.
“I’m ready to smash Venderaa and enhance my chances of getting a title fight. I’ve missed the hexagon (fighting at EFC), the fans and hitting my opponents.
“I prepared well for the fight and as it is I’m feeling good and looking good to fight. I’m perfectly ready for the fight. It’s not a title bout but I’ve prepared for a harder opponent who might push for more rounds. I’ve worked on the psychological part as well as my fitness just in case I meet a fighter who is smarter like me. Remember I last fought in April and that was in boxing, so I’ve invested lots of time at training such that losing isn’t an option,” Moyo said.
In April he knocked out Ukrainian Maksym Pedyura in Harare. Moyo floored the Ukrainian boxer after two minutes 49 seconds in the first-round.
Moyo has lost 10kgs, from 128kgs to 118kgs in his four months of intensive training.
Venderaa has six career wins and three defeats in his nine EFC fights.
The fight will be broadcast across the African continent on Kwese TV. — @ZililoR
