Boost for Nehemiah Aids Relief Project

DIGIMARK Digital Marketing Limited, a UK-based company, has donated laptops, tablets, stationery, sanitary pads, diapers and refreshments to the Nehemiah Aids Relief Project in Cowdray Park through its Bulawayo-based online team, “The Beyond Limits.”

Speaking during a handover ceremony, Nehemiah Aids Relief Project director, Ms Pamela Nyathi, said the donation would go a long way in addressing their plight.

“This donation is going to be very helpful because they have given us almost everything that we need,” she said.

She said that the IT equipment will boost learning and research opportunities for children, while sanitary products will support teenage mothers and young girls.

“Children have homework clubs here; they can now easily research with tablets and laptops. These resources will not only meet immediate needs but also inspire our children and young mothers to dream bigger and work towards a better future,” said Ms Nyathi.

She said the project, which began as a response to HIV and Aids, has since expanded to serve the wider Cowdray Park community, with programmes that mainly target children and youth.

“We hope that by this exposure to what we do here, more people will come in and help us transform the community of Cowdray Park,” said Ms Nyathi.

Cowdray Park legislator, Cde Arther Mujeyi, said they were grateful to Digimark for supporting a centre the community depends on to nurture and guide their children.

“With playing balls, refreshments and other learning resources, children will feel encouraged to come, play and socialise at the centre, away from substance abuse,” he said.

Established in 2001 by the City Pentecostal Assembly, the Nehemiah Aids Relief Project is a faith-based initiative providing care and support to orphans, teenage mothers and communities affected by HIV and Aids. It also runs prevention, education and income-generating programmes, operating youth clubs, kids’ clubs, and an ECD centre at Ithemba Centre.

Digimark online worker Ms Emsipa Nare, said they chose Nehemiah because of its impact in the community.

“I have worked here for the project and I have seen the challenges it faces in terms of funding and resources.

“ We are trying to attract attention towards the Nehemiah Project so that people can realise that someone is doing great, impactful work here, and they can also come and assist,” she said.
