Boost for women’s rugby

e-Sport is a sports shop owned by former Warriors, Moroka Swallows and Ajax Cape Town midfielder Edzai Kasinauyo and each of the combo bag sets will include a satchel, boot bag, tog bag, and a kit bag.

The Pangolins are expected to leave for Tunisia on Saturday where they will attend a five-day workshop starting next Monday before rounding off their tour with a tournament on April 20. The workshop is being conducted by the Confederation of African Rugby in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games where rugby sevens will be played for the first time.

Six countries — Uganda, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia and Zimbabwe — are expected to participate in the weeklong event.
Speaking during the presentation, e-Sport operations manager, Lancelot Sahondo said they are excited to be associated with the team and added that there are few women in the sport  and their compnay felt the need to support them.

“When they came to us we realised that it was a worthy cause especially supporting the girls. We felt there was a role we could play to boost their morale and lessen the burden of running around looking for sponsorship.

“We know there are few girls who play this sport and we thought it is important to support you,” said Sahondo.
The team’s manager, Judith Chiyangwa, said they began preparations two weeks ago and they are looking forward to the event.
“We have been preparing for the past two weeks and we started camp yesterday. As always challenges do come but it’s not something new for rugby, I think every other sport is limited in terms of resources,” said Chiyangwa.

The workshops are being held to prepare the athletes for Rio 2016 since the sport will be played at the multi-sport event for the first time.
“It’s a big event for rugby sevens because it’s the first time that Olympics will actually have sevens rugby as a sport. Since it’s the first time that rugby is going to be played, there is need for a long time in terms of preparation, so this is why as Africa we have been asked to go through the process of learning how sevens is played but also enhancing our skills even better.”
