FBC Holdings has reaffirmed its commitment to the fight against cancer through its sponsorship of the 2026 Zimpapers Cancer Power Walk, a national fundraising and awareness initiative uniting Zimbabweans in support of cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.
FBC Holdings Head of Investor Relations and Communications Priscilla Sadomba said the partnership reflects the group’s promise that “You Matter Most.” “Our sponsorship of the Zimpapers Fundraising Cancer Walk reflects this commitment. By supporting the initiative, we are helping raise awareness, mobilise resources and strengthen collective efforts against cancer,” she said.
“Every life matters, every person deserves hope, and no one should face cancer alone. Through this partnership, we are turning our values into action and demonstrating that responsible business is about more than creating economic value — it is also about improving lives and building a more resilient, compassionate society. When we say “You Matter Most,” we mean it.”
The event is also supported by Aspired Healthcare Family Practice. General Medical Practitioner Dr McKenzie Taruvinga Matiyenga said, “Zimpapers and its partners have championed cancer awareness professionally and nationwide over the years. As Aspired Healthcare Family Practice, our participation forms part of our annual corporate social responsibility programme.”
Long-time beneficiary partner Island Hospice and Healthcare has hailed the impact of the initiative since 2016.
Island Hospice and Healthcare Executive Director Dr Ngoni Nyambawaro said the collaboration has transformed cancer conversations in Zimbabwe.
“Island Hospice and Healthcare is proud to stand with Zimpapers for the 11th year of the Cancer Power Walk. This partnership, born in 2016, has transformed how Zimbabwe talks about cancer,” Dr Nyambawaro said.
“Zimpapers uses its national footprint- newspapers, radio, television and digital platforms to break stigma and promote early detection. Island Hospice uses the funds raised to do what we do best: take palliative care to the doorstep of the most vulnerable.”
He said Island’s team of doctors, nurses and social workers travel across the country to ensure patients receive quality palliative care and dignity. Nyambawaro said this year’s purple theme was deliberate to unite all cancer causes.
“The colour purple you see today is intentional. It represents all cancers, all survivors and all caregivers. It is the colour of courage, spirituality and survival.
He paid tribute to participants and sponsors.
“To every participant joining the walk, you are not just walking. You are funding hope. You are telling a patient somewhere that you are not forgotten.” This year’s walk is held under the theme “Every Story Matters, Every Journey is Unique”, celebrating fighters, survivors, caregivers and families while advocating for awareness, early detection and support.
The event will be held simultaneously in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Gweru, Masvingo and Chinhoyi on 7 November.
With support from partners including FBC Holdings, POSB, NEC Printing & Publishing, NBSZ, Lobels Bread, LC Shipping, Harare Oncology Pharmacy, Puma, Karorina’s, Zimnat, Health Professions Authority Zimbabwe, Ecobank, Beyond Events, Zorro, Sir Charles, Hybrid Travel & Tours, Zimgold, MatClinic, Aura Technologies, Linkshield, among others.
