A FRESH voice has crashed into the Zimdancehall scene—and he’s not here to sing party anthems. He’s here to spill the boozy truth.
Afro-tee, real name Thuba Givemore Gabwi, has set tongues wagging with his hard-hitting debut single, Huya Unditore—a cautionary tale wrapped in pulsating riddims.
Dropped in April, the track paints a raw picture of a man so deep in the bottle, he ends up calling his wife to pick him up from a bar.
“It’s real-life. It’s messy. And it’s a wake-up call,” says Afro-tee.
“The song is a message to those struggling with alcohol: don’t wait until you’re too far gone. Ask for help. Don’t drink and drive. Don’t be out there alone and drunk. It’s not safe,” he told Zimpapers.
Born in the fire of struggle, Afro-tee started penning songs back in 2020, but it wasn’t until 2024—thanks to self-funding and grit—that he finally hit the studio.
“No sponsors, no big deals. Just hustle and hope,” he said.
Now that he’s in the game, he’s not planning to slow down. Afro-tee teased more singles are coming soon, promising to fuse street stories with social conscience—a rare mix in today’s dancehall climate.
“I look up to the greats. I know if I stay consistent, I’ll get there,” he added with quiet confidence.
From local bars to big dreams, Afro-tee is raising the mic—and the message.
