South Africa-based musician Ray Bopoto continues to scale the ladder of success with every new production.
The musician recently released a four-track album “Gore Rino”, which has received favourable airplay on local radio stations, particularly Radio Zimbabwe and National FM.
While the entire album is made up of pulsating tracks, it is the song “Tsotso” that has won the hearts of many.
The three-week-old song is currently on number two on Radio Zimbabwe’s weekly Top 20 charts show. It is also in fourth position on the same station’s weekly Gospel 20 chart show. In the danceable track “Tsotso”, Bopoto criticises enemies of progress and pleads with them to let others realise their full potential.
He further encourages people to appreciate God’s grace.
“I am super-excited about the way people have responded to my new album. Everyone is talking about ‘Tsotso’ like a song that has been around for years, yet it’s less than a month old,” said Bopoto.
“The song is rocking all local music charts and it’s surreal. The doors have been opened. I am grateful to the Lord Jesus Christ, for this can only be His favour. I wish the trend will continue as I work on new projects.”
Other songs on the new offering include “MuZimbabwean”, “Gore Rino” and “Ndega-Ndega”. Last year, he released an album titled “Njere Zhinji” and the title track was similarly popular. Apart from his poignant lyrics, the music has a refreshing sound that departs from the traditional beats that most people have become accustomed to.
With six albums under his belt, the musician seems to be striking the right chords with each outing and remains thankful to the Almighty.
“I am very happy and humbled by the direction my music is taking. It has appealed to almost all the age groups, ranging from little kids, teenagers, middle age and the elderly,” said the musician. Bopoto added that he would not rest on his laurels.
“. . . to further improve my music, l need to be as closer to God now than ever before.
“His word give s us wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
“I need fresh ideas from above. Only this way can I do all things that are impossible now. The brand has to be powered from above for it to continue expanding.”
His other albums include “Never Despair” (2011), “Masvingo eJericho” (2012), “Batai Dzimba” (2018) and “Wandinonamata” (2019).
