Border Strikers on premiership brink

Midlands Correspondent
A FULL house is expected at Dulibadzimu Stadium where Border Strikers are expected to seal their premiership slot tomorrow when they take on Sable Chemicals in a Zifa Central Soccer League encounter.

“Vavheneki” are huge favourites to book their premiership ticket as they need only a point in their backyard where they have won all their home matches save for a nil all stalemate against Shabanie Mine.

Second placed Tongogara and ZPC Munyati who are both tied on 45 points can only finish the season on 57 points if they win all their remaining four matches.

Border Strikers already have 57 points and a win will see them taking an unassailable lead on 60 points to join the likes of Bulawayo City from the Zifa Southern Region and Northern Region champions, Ngezi Platinum who have sealed their premiership berths.

Never Malunga, the Border Strikers mentor expressed confidence that his side will book their place in the league in style as he is looking at nothing short of a victory.

“We want to announce our premiership entry in style and the only way we can do it is to win against Sable Chemicals.” he said.

His counterpart, Kennedy Chembe whose side was one of the teams challenging for the championship before their campaign went off the rails, said they will not be doing anyone favours.

“For every game that we play, we are playing to win and this match is no different. The championship is beyond us now and we’re now playing for fun.” he said.
