BORDER Strikers continued with their fight against relegation when they dismissed Ngezi Platinum in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Dulivhadzimu yesterday.

In a match played in scorching Beitbridge heat, Border Strikers who have found a way to pick points at home continued with their fine form on their favourite hunting ground.

Clever Mutendebvure shot the hosts into the lead just after two minutes before Tabwe Kalunga sealed the victory in the 55th minute.

In-form goalkeeper, Talent Sande made a number of brilliant saves for the better part of the game, to ensure that his team collected maximum points with a clean sheet.

It was Vavheneki’s second home win at Dulivhadzimu in a row, following their 2-1 upset victory over Dynamos. In shooting Beitbridge into the lead Mutendebvure capitalised on a defensive blunder by Ngezi Platinum’s defenders. Washington Pakamisa tried to draw matters level in the 10th minute but his shot was well collected by Sande who was in a no-nonsense mood.

The visitors tried to play long balls to get the steam out of the hosts but they were matched man for man by Never Malunga’s men. Ngezi Platinum tried to turn on the heat during the second half, but their strike-force failed to convert chances and they were punished by Kalunga who found the hosts’ second.

He sent in a powerful shot off, when Nelson Chadya failed to collect a Tinashe Mugadzaweta shot in the box.
