HIGHLANDERS chief executive officer Denzil Mnkandla is back at work after labour charges against him were withdrawn, but a police investigation into the same case is still open.
Club chairman Kindman Ndlovu confirmed the development saying the decision followed the club’s internal processes and the legal advice that was given to the club.

“Yes, I can confirm that, following the internal processes of the club and following the legal advice that was given to the club, the labour charges against the CEO have been withdrawn and he is at work and delivering his services fully,” said Ndlovu.
Mnkandla was suspended on 6 July over alleged financial irregularities linked to the club’s Botswana camp.
The club however has not closed the matter.
Ndlovu said Highlanders had also initiated a process through the police Commercial Crimes Investigation Department where the same case is still being investigated.
“We are waiting for the outcome of those investigations that will guide us further as a club in terms of how we act going forward but for now the CEO is back at work,” he said.
The two-track approach means Mnkandla resumed his duties while the probe runs its course, with the club’s next steps dependent on the commercial crimes case.
In a related development, Ndlovu confirmed that Elkanah Dube, who had been assisting the club in overseeing its administrative processes has reverted to his position as a board member.
Dube had been seconded to the executive by the board to oversee administration matters.
His return to the board ends that arrangement but Ndlovu said the club had not seen the last of his services.
“He continues to be available to us for advice and anywhere we feel we need his help as we try to stabilise our operations and turn around the club,” said Ndlovu.
Mnkandla attended the Highlanders Half Marathon launch on Friday.
