HIGHLANDERS is working on securing a work permit for their Zambian coach Kelvin Kaindu in time for the start of the 2024 pre-season preparations on a date still to be announced.

Kaindu is set to take over the Bosso hot seat replacing Baltemar Brito whose contract was not renewed when it expired on December 31 last year.

Bosso communications officer Nozibelo Maphosa said the club was running around with the coach’s papers.

“We are expecting the coach in the country soon. The office has been seized with putting together relevant documents to process his work permit so that he starts work,” said Maphosa.

The coach however, announced yesterday morning that he is already in Zimbabwe.

She could not be drawn to give the team’s pre-season plans but the team is expected to re-group for training in the coming fortnight.

Kaindu who needs to bolster the squad from last season, arrives at a time when FC Platinum has already managed to lure the Bosso duo of Mbongeni Ndlovu and midfielder Brighton Mhanhire.

Both players had their contracts with Bosso ending on December 31.

Andrew Tandi, Ray Lunga and seasoned Rahman Kutsanzira are reportedly some of the players that the Bulawayo giants are making frantic efforts to retain.

Kaindu who is making a return to Bosso lost the title to Dynamos on goal difference in two consecutive seasons.

In 2012, Bosso finished the season on 69 points the same as DeMbare but the latter won the title due to a superior goal difference.

In 2013, the two giants finished the season level on 54 points and DeMbare again won the title on goal difference.

Last season Bosso finished in fifth place, 11 points adrift of eventual champions Ngezi Platinum Stars. – @innocentskizoe.
