HIGHLANDERS have moved swiftly to address concerns raised by head coach Benjani Mwaruwari over the club’s thin technical team, with Culvin Mavhunga now leading the race to be appointed as a performance analyst, according to sources within the club.
Mwaruwari recently voiced his frustration over the lack of key backroom staff, particularly highlighting the absence of an analyst to support the technical bench. However, it appears the club’s hierarchy has responded to those concerns, with developments pointing towards an imminent appointment.
Sources indicate that Mavhunga, a highly regarded Zimbabwean football performance analyst, is the frontrunner for the role as Highlanders seek to strengthen their technical department.
Mavhunga is widely known for his work with the Zimbabwe senior national team, where he played a role in providing data-driven insights to aid match preparation and performance evaluation. His expertise has also been felt beyond the country’s borders, having had a stint with Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
Renowned for his sharp eye for detail, Mavhunga specialises in video analysis, opposition scouting, and translating complex match data into practical insights for coaching staff attributes that could prove vital for Mwaruwari as he looks to turn around the team’s fortunes.
Before his international engagements, Mavhunga built his reputation locally, working with Premiership sides Ngezi Platinum Stars and FC Platinum.
