A FULL-BLOWN crisis appears to be brewing at Highlanders after players reportedly stayed away from training for a third consecutive day on Thursday over outstanding dues, throwing preparations for Sunday’s blockbuster Battle of Zimbabwe against Dynamos into disarray.

The latest developments have raised alarm among Bosso supporters, with the club facing yet another financial storm just days before one of the biggest fixtures on the domestic football calendar.

Impeccable sources close to the situation said efforts to resolve the impasse were still ongoing, but by Thursday morning there had been no breakthrough, with players maintaining their stance.

“It’s becoming frustrating. The players have not been training and naturally everyone is worried because there is a big match coming. We all want this issue resolved as quickly as possible,” said a player who requested anonymity.

Another squad member, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the uncertainty was beginning to affect morale within the camp.

“Everyone knows how important the Dynamos game is, but there are issues that need attention. We hope something positive comes out soon because nobody wants this situation to continue,” said the player.

The timing could hardly be worse for Bosso, who are scheduled to host bitter rivals Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday in a fixture expected to attract thousands of supporters.

While the Battle of Zimbabwe is traditionally defined by passion, pride and bragging rights, attention has now shifted to events unfolding away from the pitch.

The latest impasse has revived memories of previous financial challenges that have periodically disrupted operations at the Bulawayo giants.

Despite the growing anxiety, club officials are understood to be maintaining communication channels with the players in a bid to avert a prolonged standoff.

With match day fast approaching and no end to the deadlock yet in sight, concern continues to mount among the Bosso faithful, who will be hoping calm can be restored before Sunday’s explosive showdown.
