Bosso date Plumtree

Nkosilathi Sibanda .
FOOTBALL giants Highlanders will add a boost to this yearas festive season fiesta in Plumtree as they are set to play against the border townas best players at the inaugural Mihhatainment sport tournament.

Highlanders, who command a huge following in the town, are to participate in the invitational tournament that will also be graced by soccer legends drawn from Bulawayo Premiership teams.

Apart from the anticipated excitement of Bossoas visit, sport enthusiasts in Plumtree are to sample a spectacle of cycling that will attract quite a number of cyclists from Matabeleland South and beyond.

Running under the theme a?Rural Youth Upliftmenta? the tournament will also be graced by celebrated soccer legends Joel Luphahla and Siza Khoza.

According to the event organiser Frank Ndlovu, the event is meant to uplift youths in rural areas by exposing them to soccer legends and being given a chance to play against their most loved team, Highlanders.

a?This is a first of its kind to happen in Bhagani Village in Plumtree. We have invited Highlandersa reserve side and gladly they have accepted the invitation. Bosso is set to play against the best talent we have in the area. This is for our youths in rural Plumtree who oftentimes never get a chance to rub shoulders with football celebrities.

a?Moreover, there will be a cycling competition. We realised that in order to change the lives of our youth for the better, we must include other sport codes. Cycling is popular in most rural set-ups and there is no better way to give back to our communities other than showcasing sport codes that they love,a? he said.

Ndlovu added that this tournament would be held annually.

a?This is more like doing sport for social development. The bigger aim is to bring about social change through the use of sports. We want to use sport as a tool for peace and development and help our youth and children learn lifelong skills to improve their lives.a?
