A Highlanders fan who was arrested together with a friend for alleged malicious damage to property is still languishing in remand prison after failing to raise $50 bail that was granted the duo two weeks ago.Bulawayo Magistrate Sibongile Msipa granted Nkosiphile Lusinga, 19, and Descent Sibanda, 26, bail on August 15.  Sibanda has failed to raise the $50.

The two fans together with the late Thembelenkosini Hloli, 23, allegedly smashed the window of a Toyota Spacio that nine Dynamos supporters were travelling in following a highly charged match between Highlanders and Dynamos.

Hloli reportedly died at Avon (Pvt) Limited along Waverley Road while fleeing from the nine Dynamos fans.

The two men pleaded not guilty to the charges as did the Dynamos fans in the Hloli case.

Yesterday, Lusinga, and Sibanda briefly appeared before Magistrate Victor Mpofu and the case was moved to September 11 as the state needs to record another statement.

Sibanda was again remanded in custody while Lusinga was remanded out of custody.

Prosecuting, Tafadzwa Mutsambiwa told the court that Hloli, Lusinga and Sibanda were rowdy in the aftermath of the game won by Dynamos by a single goal to nil.

She said the three were violent as they came out of Barbourfields Stadium and damaged the rear windscreen of Chamas Misiwo’s vehicle with an unknown object.

Misiwo, a police officer based at Hwange Traffic section is also a suspect in the Hloli murder case, reported them to the police the same night.

Mutsambiwa said Lusinga and Sibanda were arrested but Hloli died at Avon (Pvt) Limited along Waverley Road while fleeing.

The value of the damaged windscreen is $200 and it has not been fixed.
