Bosso go for firepower as fans lose patience

HIGHLANDERS are in full-blown crisis mode as the club’s top brass scrambles to fix a misfiring attack that has gone ice cold.

With zero goals in their last three matches and not a single win to show for it, Bosso’s title dreams are slowly slipping into a nightmare.

The Bulawayo giants have hit a worrying slump, drawing twice and losing once in their last three outings. Even more painful for fans, the team has not found the back of the net in any of those matches. That shocking dry spell has triggered alarm bells in the Highlanders corridors of power.

Acting chief executive Kindman Ndlovu confirmed that the club has had enough and is moving swiftly in the mid-season transfer window.

“We are not happy with the performance of the team,” Ndlovu told Zimpapers Sports Hub. “As a leadership, we are actively looking at ways to strengthen the squad during this window. The coaches have submitted their wish list and we have already begun the process of trying to engage clubs and players.”

Sources close to the club revealed that at least two strikers and an attacking midfielder top that wish list. Head coach Try Ncube is desperate for spark, pace and precision up front to lift Bosso out of the mud.

The mid-season window is notoriously tricky, with most top players tied down to contracts. But Highlanders are pressing ahead, determined to inject fresh blood into a team that suddenly looks flat and clueless in the final third.

Despite the crisis, Ncube and his technical team still enjoy the full backing of the executive.

“We have not advertised for a coaching role. We have a present coaching structure in place and we believe in giving it full support,” Ndlovu said.

Still, the coaching seat is getting warmer by the day. Ndlovu revealed that unsolicited applications from both local and foreign coaches have already started trickling in, hinting that the club is keeping its options open.

Elsewhere in the league, clubs are not sitting still. The mid-season madness is in full swing.

Former Highlanders golden boot winner Lynoth Chikuhwa has completed a surprise loan move to Chicken Inn from Scottland. Meanwhile, CAPS United are making bold moves, snapping up Ishmael Wadi, Chris Mugalu and Chitoshi Chinga, while parting ways with veterans like Rodwell Chinyengetere, who is reportedly heading to Green Fuel.

At Dynamos, chaos reigns as Wisdom Mutasa returns to the squad. An exodus is underway with Nomore Chinyererere, Elton Chikona, and Raymond Uchena all leaving. Chikona is reportedly TelOne-bound, while striker Washington Navaya is being courted by South African newcomers Durban City. Veteran Denver Mukamba has also been spotted back at Dynamos, sparking speculation of a shock reunion.

Over at FC Platinum, the club has lost Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya to AmaZulu in South Africa, and are now eyeing a move for Enock Karembo from Manica Diamonds.

Back in Bulawayo, all eyes remain on Highlanders. The fans are restless, the goals are missing and the clock is ticking. Bosso’s second-half of the season hangs in the balance. Will they get it right, or will the wheels come off completely?
