DYNAMOS’ new coach Kelvin Kaindu says the Highlanders sacking in June came as a surprise.
The Zambian, once a darling of the crowd when he played for Bosso as a winger in 1997-98 before two stints as a coach, was in Bulawayo on Monday a day after his team beat Kwekwe United.
“I think to be honest, it came as a surprise, looking at the way we were playing, and the way we had started the season,” said Kaindu.
Kaindu started work at Dynamos last week and set on the bench for the first time against Kwekwe United in Gweru on Sunday.
Highlanders did not have a good pre-season and what made matters worse was that the club was unable to replace the departed quartet of Peter Muduhwa, Godfrey Makarutse, Marvelous Chigumira and Lynoth Chikuhwa and Divine Mhindirira with quality.
Since their 2019 Chibuku Super Cup, Mbongeni Ndlovu, Prince Dube, Adrian Silla and Brian Banda have left Bosso with the team struggling to identify very good players because of a callous financial position and a skewed talent identification process.
