Bosso seek mid-season lift

THE goals have stopped coming, and patience is wearing thin.

Highlanders’ leadership is growing increasingly frustrated with the team’s form, as the Bulawayo giants enter the mid-season transfer window desperate to revive their stalling campaign.

The club has now gone three games without a win, two draws and a loss and, more worryingly, has failed to score in all three.

That drought has sparked concern among the club’s top brass, with acting chief executive Kindman Ndlovu confirming that urgent action is underway behind the scenes.

“We are not happy with the performance of the team. As leadership, we are actively looking at ways to strengthen the squad during this window.

The coaches have submitted their wish list and we have already begun the process of trying to engage clubs and players,” said Ndlovu.

According to sources close to the club, that wish list includes at least two strikers and an attacking midfielder, areas head coach Try Ncube sees as critical to unlocking Highlanders’ blunt frontline.

But mid-season business is rarely straightforward. Most players are still tied to contracts, making deals both tricky and potentially costly. Still, Highlanders are pressing on with their recruitment drive and remain hopeful of bringing in fresh faces.

Despite the slump, the current technical team, led by Ncube, retains the club’s backing.

“We have not advertised for a coaching role. We have a present coaching structure in place, and we believe in giving it full support. But naturally, we have had unsolicited applications coming in from local coaches, others from abroad. We will provide updates if anything changes,” Ndlovu added.

Across the league, the mid-season window is already busy.

Last season’s top scorer, Lynoth Chikuhwa, has joined Chicken Inn on loan from Scottland. CAPS United have made moves for Ishmael Wadi, Chris Mugalu, and Chitoshi Chinga, while parting ways with several veterans, including Rodwell Chinyengetere, who is believed to be heading to GreenFuel.

At Dynamos, Wisdom Mutasa makes a return, while Nomore Chinyererere, Elton Chikona and Raymond Uchena are all on their way out. Chikona is reportedly TelOne-bound, though the club may also lose striker Washington Navaya to South African newcomers, Durban City.

Meanwhile, Denver Mukamba is said to have been spotted at Dynamos.

FC Platinum, who lost Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya to AmaZulu, are working on a deal for Manica Diamonds’ Enock Karembo.
