Bosso set up new committee

HIGHLANDERS FC have heeded to a call by bonafide members to set up a finance and audit internal committee in order to improve the smooth operations of the club.

Bosso board chairman Luke Mnkandla introduced members of the committee at the club’s mid-year meeting at the club house yesterday.
The committee is made up of five members namely Bekezela Ngoma, Terrance Nyoni, Charles Ndlovu and Qhubekelani Sibanda.
The fifth member of the committee will be appointed in due course.

At the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) earlier in the year, the auditors indicated that financial reports contained gross mis-statements and have the potential to be exploited for fraud.

As a result members proposed an internal committee be set up to avoid such a situation in the future.
“Members called for us to set up an internal audit and finance committee. We sat down as the board and executive and decided that we needed to have such committees.

“Some may question how we came up with the personnel for the committee but these are the people we have set down with and assigned roles to and we are confident that they will do the job,” said Mnkandla.

The board chairman also attributed Bosso’s good run this season to the unity that has been forged within the club leadership.
“From the previous meeting it emerged there were differences between the board and the executive but l can assure you that we have rectified any differences and are working in unity and the results are there to see on the field of play,” said Mnkandla.
Mnkandla went on to praise Bosso fans.

“We would like to commend our members and supporters in general for good behaviour that has seen less cases of missile throwing at Barbourfields Stadium. Throwing missiles and invading the pitch hurts the club financially so we are happy that the first half of the 2023 season has been peaceful,” said Mnkandla.

However, Mnkandla, said it was cause for concern that travelling supporters, or at least individuals clad in club regalia, were allegedly looting shops enroute to and from away games.

“Of course anyone can wear a Highlanders jersey, commit a crime and the club is blamed but if we know those persons that are allegedly looting beer in shops when travelling for away matches then those people must be identified and told to stop. “I don’t think members present here will be happy if supporters from other teams came here and vandalised this club house or local shops,” added Mnkandla.-@innocentskizoe
