BOTSWANA has come under fire for calling for an audit of the results of the just ended harmonised elections in Zimbabwe with the Pan African Forum Limited describing the country as a conduit for neo-colonialism and an embodiment of western hegemony employed to distabilise Africa. PAFL is a grouping of 54 African member states and is headquartered in Kenya.
The Government of Botswana also received brickbats after it emerged that it sponsored the MDC-T’s election campaign with the Seretse Khama Ian Khama administration providing material support to the party in a desperate bid to unseat Zanu-PF.

The country has taken the same stance with the West on the just ended elections, describing them as not free and fair.
PAFL chairman Dr David Nyekorach —Matsanga said Africa was aware of Botswana’s “client-state” politics.
“Western nations have used Botswana to destablise Africa,” he said.

“This type of politics has made it impossible for Botswana to find a common ground with the Sadc member states and the rest of African Union countries. We remorsefully lament the tight grip of western infiltration in Botswana that is fuelling discontent by putting Botswana at odds with the rest of African States.”
Dr Matsanga said in doing so Botswana had decided to go against the African continent.

“Sadc countries that were present in Zimbabwe have endorsed the elections as a positive step towards entrenching democracy in frontline states. So why is Botswana going against the grain?

Dr Nyekorach-Matsanga said the fact that Botswana hosts a pirate radio station Studio 7 of the Voice Of America shows that the Botswana government was being used by imperialists to kill Africa.

“Botswana has satellites pointing on Zimbabwe along the common border with Zimbabwe,” Dr Matsanga said.
“We know all these facts but we had spared them thinking they would change and work for African unity. Now time has come to intellectually expose Botswana syndrome to entire African population.”

Botswana, Dr Matsanga said, had a “mentally derailed” leadership with sickness from imperialism.
“Their statements on Kenya indicate a deliberate breakaway from the African Union Resolution on the International Criminal Court,” he said. “Botswana continues to make Sadc bleed by opposing many of its activities such as the Sadc Visa plan that is an economic boom for the Sadc region. PAFL notes that the Zim elections have been lauded by African, Asian and East Europe and to some extent some EU member states as peaceful, free and fair. We would like also to appeal to European countries and America to desist the condescending attitude that reengages Zimbabwe.”

Botswana hit the headlines for the wrong reasons in March this year after announcing sanctions on Kenya for electing President Uhuru Kenyatta over Western favourite Raila Odinga.

Botswana later apologised for its faux pas after the whole of Africa stood by the Kenyan leader. Dr Matsanga warned foreign entities against fomenting democracy in Zimbabwe by disengaging imperial machineries such as Zimbabwe Election Support Network, SW Radio Africa, and 1st TV South Africa from precipitating crisis in Zimbabwe.
