THE proposed World Boxing Union bantamweight title fight between Zimbabwe’s Tapiwa Tembo and Zambia’s Gibbon Kamota remains on ice indefinitely following indications from the promoters that the bout will not be staged soon. Initially, Tembo was expected to fight Kamota on November 2 for the vacant title, but the show was cancelled at the last minute after the promoter Delta Force Boxing failed to deposit the purse money with the Zimbabwe Boxing Control Board.
Delta Force then rescheduled the bout to December 22 at the City Sports Centre but, again the fight has suffered another still-birth.
Clyde Musonda, the Delta Force manager yesterday said they have failed to secure the Harare International Conference Centre and will now pin their hopes on staging the title fight next year.
“We failed to host the fight in November because we did not have enough funds but we ran around and managed to partner some people who are based in the United States and they have vast knowledge in marketing boxing events.
