Boxing action returns to Bulawayo

BOXING action is set to return in Bulawayo this coming weekend as Palace Hotel in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Boxing Federation are set to host a national tournament on Saturday.

This will be the second time Palace Hotel hosts a tournament of this magnitude this year, having hosted another one in September.

Palace Hotel proprietor Tapiwa Gandiwa said preparations for the meet are well on course.

“We expect boxing fans to come in their numbers. We intend to make this a fun-filled day. With a number of DJ’s on the rotation as well as jumping castles for the young ones,” said Gandiwa.

Elite boxers from across the country are set to compete in both men and women categories in what promises to be a jam packed event.

Clubs expected to take part will include Black Rhinos, HQ 1 Brigade, 5 Brigade, Bulawayo Metropolitan, Prisons and Correctional Services, Air Force of Zimbabwe, Bulawayo, Harare, Midlands, Victoria Falls Boxing Academy, Manyuchi Boxing Academy, Masvingo, Gwanda, Hwange, Beitbridge have all affirmed availability.

The tournament will also be part of preparations for the Region 5 games set for Malawi next month. -@innocentskizoe
