Shylock Mabvurira (24) of Plot 14 in Murereka went to the teenager’s home at Plot 16 and demanded the US$5 owed to her young brother.
A misunderstanding ensued and the teenager reportedly picked up a hoe handle and assaulted the woman leading to her death.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident.
He said police had since arrested the teenager who is assisting with investigations.
He is expected to appear in court soon facing murder charges.
The body of the woman was taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for post-mortem.
“We would like to urge people to seek amicable ways of solving disputes without resorting to violence because as things stand this young man is now in trouble with the law,” he said.
