BP makes headway in Namibia

from CAJ News, BP Press officer for Africa Robert Wine, said his company was determined to drill new oil and gas discovered in Namibia.
“With Chariot, we committed to cover Chariot’s cost of drilling the first exploration well, as well as past costs incurred.  With Serica, we will fund a 3D seismic program covering 4 100 square km and the possible drilling a first exploration well,” said Wine.
He, however, said he could not provide figures as to the amount his company was pouring into the project.
Namibia’s Block 2714A, where most of the exploration is taking place, is situated in the country’s offshore Orange Basin and comprises more than 52 116 square miles. BP has interests in the oil industry in Angola, Namibia’s northern neighbour.
Its entry into the region follows the withdrawal of Chevron Corp and Royal Dutch Shell.  There were no immediate statistics on how much amount of gas and oil could be pumped per day. — CAJ News.
