BPPA announces mid-season break

THE Bulawayo Province Pool Association (BPPA) has officially announced a two-week mid-season break for all provincial league competitions, giving clubs a valuable opportunity to regroup, assess their performances, and prepare for what promises to be a competitive second-half of the 2026 season.

In an official notice BPPA fixtures secretary Kuda Shoko confirmed that the mid-season recess will begin today and end on Friday, 14 August, with league fixtures resuming on Saturday, 15 August 2026.

The scheduled break comes at a crucial stage of the season, allowing players time to recover from the demanding fixture schedule while enabling clubs to evaluate their progress during the opening half of the campaign.

For teams challenging for league titles, promotion, or fighting to improve their standings, the break offers an opportunity to fine-tune strategies and strengthen their squads ahead of the decisive final stretch.

Beyond providing rest for players, the recess is expected to be a busy period for club executives and technical teams as they review performances, identify areas requiring improvement, and plan for the remaining fixtures.

The announcement has also shifted attention to the eagerly anticipated mid-season transfer window. However, the association has urged clubs and players to exercise patience and refrain from concluding any transfer agreements before the official procedures are released.

“A detailed official notice outlining the mid-season transfer procedures, guidelines, and deadlines will be circulated shortly. All teams and players are advised to hold off on finalising any player movements until the official transfer guidelines are published,” said Shoko in the notice.

The forthcoming transfer circular is expected to provide comprehensive guidance on player registration, eligibility requirements, documentation, transfer deadlines, and the administrative processes that clubs must follow. The measures are intended to promote fairness, transparency, and compliance with BPPA regulations while ensuring the integrity of the competition.

The mid-season transfer period often presents clubs with an opportunity to reinforce areas of weakness, replace unavailable players, or add depth to their squads as the race for league honours intensifies. It is also a chance for players seeking more game time to secure moves that could revive their campaigns.

Shoko urged all affiliated clubs, team executives, players, and stakeholders to cooperate fully with the association by adhering to the established administrative procedures. He emphasised that observing the transfer regulations would help ensure a smooth process and avoid disputes that could affect the remainder of the season.
