BPPA ushers in new executive

THE Bulawayo Province Pool Association (BPPA) has ushered in a new executive committee that will be led by Wilson Mudhari.

Mudhari was elected as the association’s new president at an elective annual general meeting (AGM) that was held Queens Sports Club on Saturday.

Mudhari takes over from fellow Bulawayo businessman Fortune Tawengwa. Mudhari, who was previously the association’s vice president, will be deputised by veteran pool administrator Donald Wadawu.

“We will seek to continue developing the game in Bulawayo. We are seeking a collective effort and in that regard we should support each other in taking the game to another level,” said MudhariNomore Muzvidziwa was re-elected as the association’s secretary-general.

Tafadzwa Muguyo is the new treasurer. He takes over from Shepherd Moyo.

Farai Nyandoro, a former athletes’ commissioner was voted into the position of referees’ co-ordinator. MacDonald Mudenge lost his position of development officer to Maxwell Magovere. BPPA recently launched a Reigate District League. BPPA already has Premier, Division One, Mzilikazi and Central Business District Leagues.

The Reigate District League was officially launched a fortnight ago through a singles’ two-day tournament that attracted scores of Bulawayo pool players.

Clemence “Kitso” Gutse conquered all and sundry to emerge as the winner.For his tireless efforts, Gutse went home with US$150 plus a gold medal.

Youthful Richard Mushobe finished as the first runner up to go home with US$100 and a silver medal.

The second runner up was Constantine Muchono.

He pocketed US$60 plus a bronze medal.

Covenant Takaendesa was the fourth best player and he got US$40 as his prize money.

Players that came out on position five to eight went home with US$10 each.
