Founder and executive director of Brave Little Hearts Ms Tendai Moyo has been appointed board member of an international philanthropic organisation.

Moyo was recently appointed as board member for Global Alliance for Rheumatic and Congenital Hearts (Global ARCH), an alliance that brings together organisations from                                                                                                   around the world to learn, collaborate, and speak out together about the unmet needs of those living with heart conditions that begin in childhood.

In an interview, Ms  Moyo said she was humbled to be selected amongst renowned philanthropists from all over the world.

“I am truly humbled and count it as an honour and a privilege to be recognised by world leaders who come from all over the world including Africa. This is a great milestone for Zimbabwe as this means collaboration with professionals and experts.

“As an individual it will better capacitate  me for my leadership role for the organisation and for the patients I represent. It also helps us give up-to-date  informed relevant information to our day to day address to the disease,” she said.

She said that the international organisation focuses on improving worldwide life-long outcomes in childhood-onset heart disease through empowering patient and family organisations and being part of its leadership is a glimpse of hope for heart disease patients in the country.

“Global Arch’s mandate is to empower patients and for their voices to be heard. It is also a member to the World Heart Federation who in turn sit on the World Health Organisation board, meaning our voice, our  concerns now have the capacity to be heard and our input included internationally and are part of decision making to frame policies and this also helps put spotlight on the Zimbabwean scenario which is still lagging behind  in terms of implementation policy.”
