A HORROR knee injury has slammed the brakes on the career of Slovakia-based former Chicken Inn and Talen Vision midfielder Bravie Sibanda, who has been forced onto crutches after surgery.
The 27-year-old FKM Nove Zamky star faces at least three months on the sidelines following a gruesome setback that left his knee dislocated, ligaments torn and his meniscus shredded.
Speaking from his Slovakian base, Sibanda painted a grim picture of his ordeal. “It turned out to be a dislocated knee, ligament sprain and a meniscus tear,” he revealed. “The doctors advised that I will be sidelined for a while, most likely three months depending on recovery. I have started treatment and rehabilitation, so I’m just focused on healing properly and coming back stronger.”
The midfielder’s nightmare unfolded during a bruising league clash against FK Podkonice. At first, Sibanda clung to hope that the injury would heal naturally. But the daily torment of excruciating pain left him with no choice.
“At first, I tried to recover without surgery, but I was in pain every single day,” he explained. “I decided to undergo surgery last Thursday. I will have to remain focused, getting injured is part of the game. I will just have to remain strong.”
It’s a cruel twist for a player who has carved out a solid career in Slovakia over the past three and a half years. After initially starring for OFK Banik Lehota pod Vtacnikom, Sibanda switched to FKM Nove Zamky and went on to lift league titles with both clubs.
Before his European adventure, the hard-running midfielder also plied his trade in South Africa and Eswatini, steadily building a reputation as a tough competitor.
For now, though, Sibanda must swap boots for bandages and fight his way back from the biggest battle of his career. His fans will be hoping the Zimbabwean engine room maestro rises again when the doctors finally give him the all-clear.
