In 2 Kings 7:1, Elisha said, “Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord: Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.”
Last week, we reflected on Psalm 32:7:
“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
We learnt that God hid you not to punish you, but to preserve you.
The enemy came in like a flood, but the Spirit of the Lord raised a standard and drew you into His sanctuary.
You were preserved for glory.
Today, we transition from preservation to manifestation.
Your season of protection is leading directly to abundance at the gate.
The enemy believed that if he surrounded you with trouble, you would give up.
However, God declared that He would surround you with songs of deliverance instead.
Where the enemy brought shame, God surrounds you with praise.
Where he brought stagnation, God surrounds you with deliverance.
You cannot be surrounded by God and remain trapped by trouble; His presence shatters every siege.
This was the state of Samaria in 2 Kings 6.
The city was under a fierce siege, surrounded by forces that produced extreme famine and despair.
Everything was locked down, with no movement, trade or progress.
It was a caged season.
Many of you have felt like your lives mirrored that city — working without progressing, praying without breaking through and enduring constant opposition. Yet, God preserved you through it all.
You did not perish in the siege.
When God has sustained you long enough in secret, He moves you into public manifestation.
Elisha stood in the middle of famine and hopelessness to proclaim, “Hear ye the word of the Lord! By this time tomorrow…”
How could a prophet declare abundance in the depth of a famine?
How could he speak of open gates to a locked city?
He could do so because those who abide in God’s hiding place hear what others cannot.
They hear songs of deliverance while the crowd hears only the noise of defeat. God says, “By this time tomorrow!”
Your suffering has an official expiration date.
Your famine has 24 hours left and your weeping is limited to one final night, for joy comes in the morning, as written in Psalm 30:5.
People looked at Samaria and saw no food, no army and no hope.
Even the king’s officer doubted, asking if such a turn of events was possible even if God opened the windows of heaven.
But God specialises in performing miracles that defy human logic.
He does not need a lengthy process to execute a transformation; He can turn everything around overnight.
God did not rain flour down from heaven. Instead, He caused the enemy to hear the thunderous sound of chariots, forcing them to flee and abandon their food, gold and garments.
God will cause your adversaries to leave their abundance behind for you.
The prophecy declared that abundance would be positioned directly at the gate. The same gate that was shut tight by the siege became the centre of commerce once again.
The location of your former embarrassment will become the place of your public celebration. Your gate represents your access point — your career, business, marriage or family.
The gate that was once closed is swinging open.
When the four lepers asked why they should sit there until they died, they began to move. Their simple steps triggered a release of abundance for the entire city.
I declare over you today that you were preserved for such a time as this.
You did not survive the storm merely to remain hidden; you survived to carry abundance to others.
Your hidden season has ended. Your song of deliverance is rising and by this time tomorrow, your gate shall be open, your famine ended and your story forever changed.
Prophetic declaration: I was preserved for glory. I am surrounded by deliverance.
By this time tomorrow, my abundance shall be established at the gate, in Jesus’ name.
