BRENDAN Taylor has become only the third Zimbabwe batter to reach the 10 000-run mark in international cricket, reaching the milestone during the second One Day International (ODI) match between the Chevrons and Sri Lanka at Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
The 39 year old veteran batter, who recently returned to international cricket following the end of his three and a half year ban joins an elite list that only has the Flower brothers, Andy and Grant.
Taylor scored 20 runs in Sunday’s game to take his overall runs tally to 10 009 runs in 320 innings. Andy Flower tops the charts with 11 580 runs in 320 innings as well while Grant has 10 028 runs in 337 innings.
Taylor also holds the record for the most centuries in international cricket for Zimbabwe (17), one more than Andy Flower.
He is also one game away from having the second joint most matches for Zimbabwe with Grant Flower on 288, only behind Hamilton Masakadza with 313 matches.
