A CCC member has made stunning revelations that her party bosses demanded sexual favours from female members to stand as the party’s candidates in the forthcoming harmonised elections.
This comes as the dust is yet to settle in the opposition where its candidate selection was shambolic and is still disputed by those whose names were removed even after they had emerged victorious.
In a 2-minute video circulating on social media, a senior member Mavis Mutupe commonly known as Mai Gonza made the revelations that positions in CCC were being exchanged for sexual favours.
“In Chegutu West since the formation of the MDC l have held seven positions. Now I was looking forward to being in the women’s quota as my name was on number one after the selection process.
“But since we are no longer ‘sellable’ the party is dealing with women who are good at taking their clothes off. We never expected that Chamisa is my brother, chirandu, gono (totem), but now a woman who is good at stripping naked is the one being given a position,” she said.
Mai Ganza said her 59-year age made her a suitable candidate for the women’s quota.
“Mashonaland West province all winners were removed while losers were imposed. It is painful that I served 23 years in the party being sidelined while a newcomer is now an MP or councillor. Chamisa should treat us as Zimbabweans,” she said.
Mai Ganza said despite being loyal to the party she is now being told that uneducated people have no place in the party.
“Our chairman prefers someone who would have undressed her undergarments. Some of us can no longer do that because we are now old,” she said.
“You will be told to pay US$1 200 to stand as a proportional representative candidate. Where do I get it? What about the 23 years that I served in the party? Now I am the organiser of women in Chegutu West, but being denied to stand since I failed to remove my clothes before the provincial chairman.”
Mai Ganza said it was shocking that Mr Chamisa signed for a candidate only identified as Chirera leaving out Bvumo who served the party for 23 years.
“I am personally disheartened Mr Chamisa should respect people, he is my brother he should respect the elders we supported him to be voted in Gweru but now he is pushing for our ouster paving the way for new blood,” she said. CCC interim provincial chairman and aspiring Senator Ralph Magunje could not be reached yesterday as his mobile phone was unanswered.
