A BULAWAYO woman yesterday appeared before a Western Commonage Magistrate for hitting a man with a brick following a misunderstanding over $4.

Hlengiwe Moyo, 27, of Old Pumula suburb appeared before magistrate Abednico Ndebele facing assault charges.

She pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to November 14 for trial.

Her victim Keepmore Sibanda, 37, of Pumula South is still hospitalised following the attack.

Moyo said she attacked Sibanda after he accused her of stealing his $4.

“On a Sunday we attended a party with Keepmore and I left after a while. He then followed me home where he showed up with some of his friends and accused me of stealing his $4. I denied ever having taken the money and he forcibly pulled me outside,” said Moyo.

“In trying to restrain him, I picked up a brick and hit him on his forehead.”

Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza said on November 1 at around 6.30PM, Sibanda was passing in front of Moyo’s residence in the company of his friends when she suddenly appeared.

Moyo, he said, used a concrete brick to hit Sibanda on the left side of his forehead.

“Sibanda suffered a deep cut on the forehead and broken upper teeth,” said Mageza.
