A SEEMINGLY harmless request for a shovel turned into a bloody brick beatdown in Entumbane, when a self-employed builder allegedly went full savage, smashing a man on the forehead with a brick over a simple misunderstanding.

Arnold Munyongani (26), appeared before Western Commonage Regional Court this week, facing attempted murder charges after what prosecutors are calling a brutal and unprovoked attack on Nqabutho Sibanda.

The accused stood stone-faced before Magistrate Sibongile Marondedze, who granted him $30 bail at the ZiG exchange rate, under strict conditions that he must not interfere with witnesses and must report to Entumbane Police Station every Friday.

According to State Prosecutor Milton Moyo, on 18 May around 10AM, Sibanda approached Munyongani, who is in the construction business and asked to borrow a shovel he was using.

Instead of handing it over, tempers flared, and things escalated dangerously fast.
“In a fit of rage, Munyongani picked up a brick and struck Sibanda once on the forehead,” said Moyo. “The impact left the victim bleeding and in need of urgent hospital care.”

Mr. Sibanda was rushed to a local health facility, where he received treatment. He is now awaiting a head scan scheduled for 24 May, and the medical report will be crucial in the trial scheduled to resume on 3 June 2025.
The accused has been warned to keep his distance from the victim.
