BRICS critical in fixing Africa’s food security

Malcom Donaldson

For many years the United States of America and its allies in Western Europe have manipulated elections in Africa using a combination of sanctions, poverty and food insecurity.

It is therefore, critical for Africa and the developing world to work on food security so that they are not easily manipulated by especially the US and its allies.

Africa and the developing world can leverage on their proximity to China and Russia, who are fair development players and have over the years, improved on farming technology and productivity.

While China has done so well on the technological side of farming, Russia has no doubt emerged one of the greatest producer of grain in the world and Africa should tap into that knowledge.

These two BRICS members are very critical to stabilising Africa’s food security and ultimately political security.

Even the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) admits that Russia is a critical factor in the international food security and that Russia has more foot prints of wheat supply in many developing countries than any other country in the world.

Therefore, it is pretty critical for African countries to work with Russia and the oncoming Russia African Summit is critical for all African heads of State attend and strike grain deals or production technology as well as knowledge exchange deals.

Russia is more advance when it comes to grain production although the US and its allies would want to discredit it because of the war in Ukraine, Russia is a big factor in grain production.

It is very easy to tell what grain instability hit the world once Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine. Yes, Ukraine also produces grain but not to the magnitude of Russia.

Every progressive development country, should therefore, look towards working with Russia for its food security.

The US and its allies have for many years taken advantage of food shortages and manipulated political systems in developing country and effected regime change.

The ultimate goal has never been feeding the hungry people in those countries but, gaining access to the country’s natural resources. Food insecurity, therefore, becomes a to achieve the evil.

The Russia-Africa Summit is therefore a critical conference that all African leaders should attend and capitalise on. It is a must attend.

African countries in their broad totality should come up with strategic grain reserves so avoid being manipulated and that can easily be achieved through working with Russia.

US is so self-centred that it does not want developing countries, especially African countries to rely on themselves for food. They want to us democracy, good, governance and lack of accountability as a smokescreen behind which to hide their regime change and thirsty to gain access to vast untapped natural resources.
