A growing online petition calling for the reinstatement of former Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe 2026 Malaika Mushandu is gaining momentum, as pageantry supporters intensify their campaign against the decision to strip her of the title.
The petition, created by Shamila Sibanda on August 25, has been widely shared across social media platforms, with supporters rallying behind Mushandu and urging the Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe organisation to reconsider its decision.
The campaign follows widespread public reaction to Mushandu’s dethronement, with her supporters now turning to an online petition in an effort to demonstrate the level of backing she continues to enjoy.
In the petition, the signatories call on the Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe organisers and relevant pageant authorities to review the decision.
“To the Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe organisers and relevant pageant authorities, we, the undersigned supporters of Malaika Mushandu and the Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe platform, respectfully call for the reconsideration of the decision regarding her position as Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe.
“Malaika Mushandu has earned the support and admiration of many Zimbabweans and pageant followers who believe that she represents Zimbabwe with grace, confidence, ambition and pride. Her journey has created a strong connection with supporters both in Zimbabwe and internationally. We believe that her reinstatement deserves serious consideration.”
The petition further appeals to the organisers to handle the matter fairly and transparently, taking into account Mushandu’s achievements, commitment to the title, the interests of her supporters and Zimbabwe’s representation at the international Miss Cosmo pageant.
“Whatever circumstances led to the current situation, we respectfully ask the organisers to review the matter fairly and transparently, taking into account Malaika’s achievements, commitment to the title, her supporters, and the interests of Zimbabwe’s representation at Miss Cosmo,” reads part of the petition.
The petition organisers stressed that the campaign was not intended to attack, insult or undermine the Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe organisation or any individual involved, but was instead an appeal by supporters seeking Mushandu’s reinstatement as Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe 2026.
At the time of writing, the petition had attracted 371 verified signatures, leaving it 129 signatures short of its target of 500. It continues to circulate across social media, where the debate surrounding Mushandu’s dethronement has remained a major talking point among pageantry followers.
The petition comes as Mushandu’s fight to reclaim the crown appears to be moving beyond the court of public opinion. A court filing lodged earlier on Wednesday indicates that Mushandu has elected to pursue legal action against the Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe organisation, seeking to have the decision to revoke her title set aside and to be reinstated as Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe 2026.
The development sets the stage for a new chapter in the unfolding dispute, with Mushandu now receiving support on two fronts, an increasingly vocal online campaign led by pageantry fans and a legal challenge aimed at overturning the organisation’s decision.
