Batsirai Chinyanga, younger brother to the late actor and singer Nevernay “Muwengwa” Chinyanga, is on cloud nine, considering how his Dinhidza Express Band is on the rise.

The band is set to release its sixth album today at Eastpoint (formerly Jazz 105) titled “Hazvidi Mutsimba”.

It carries eight tracks comprising “Mafans Ngaafare”, “Rumbidza Musiki”, “Usavarairwa Hama Yangu”, “Kura Mupfungwa”, “Sanzu Nemashizha Aro”, “Gavi Rakabva Kumasvuuriro”, “Makaita Basa Mukanya” and the title track, “Hazvidi Mutsimba”.

It was recorded at Trutone Studio by Jabulani Ndlovu and mixed by Bothwell Nyamhondera, a veteran producer who has been in the game for years.

In an interview, Batsirai, who is both a singer and actor, said he was following in the footsteps of his late brother Nevernay.

“My brother died in 2010 and left a legacy that needs to be maintained,” he said. “I will definitely remember him when I launch the album on Wednesday next week (today) where we have already booked.

“Tickets will be going for US$5 general and the VIPs are already sorted.”

Batsirai said he was willing to learn from other seasoned artistes he had invited.

Alick Macheso is the guest of honour, while legislator Simbaneuta Mudarikwa is the guest speaker.

“Our guest of honour for the album launch is Alick Macheso,” he said. “The other artistes who are coming include Nicholas Zakaria, Somandla Ndebele, Progress Chipfumo, First Farai, Senator Tichareva, Howard Pinjisi, Simon Mutambi and Samanyanga.”

Dinhidza Express Band is made up of five members and was assembled in 2012.

Apart from Batsirai, the other band members are Vipas Zvikaramba, Shepherd Gobs, Kutendaishe Chinyanga, Barnabas Mandipota and Charles Musungwa.
