RESIDENTS of Bulawayo’s Sizinda suburb were met with a shocking murder yesterday morning after an elder brother was reportedly stabbed to death by his younger sibling. The suspect is understood to have then fled to another brother’s residence in Pumula South.

The deceased, Abbie Ndlovu (40), was found lying in a pool of blood with his intestines protruding, by his father, who had left home for work around 5pm on Thursday. Bulawayo police spokesperson, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, confirmed the incident, revealing that the suspect, Artwell Ndlovu (32), was apprehended after attempting to flee upon being spotted in the Pumula South area.

“Police confirm the arrest of Artwell Ndlovu, a male adult aged 32, of Sizinda, Bulawayo, who murdered his brother Abbie Ndlovu, a male adult aged 40, of the same address. On May 29, 2025, at around 1700 hours, the father of the now deceased left his two sons — Abbie and the accused —  at home without any issues.

“He returned home the following day, May 30, 2025, at around 0700 hours and found the deceased lying lifeless in the dining room in a pool of blood, with intestines protruding from the stomach, multiple stab wounds across the body, and a broken arm. He alerted neighbours, and an ambulance was summoned. Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed the death. A police report was then filed,” said Inspector Msebele.

Following investigations, police discovered that the suspect may have sought refuge at another brother’s house in Pumula South. A team comprising CID Homicide, CID Forensic, Canine Unit, and ZRP Tshabalala officers swiftly proceeded to the location.

Although the suspect was not found at the house, officers discovered his blood-stained clothes soaked and left outside.

Inspector Msebele said officers later spotted the suspect from a distance. Upon seeing the police, he attempted to flee but was apprehended a few metres away by a police dog, leading to his arrest.

“The deceased’s body was conveyed to United Bulawayo Hospitals for a post-mortem. The weapon used in the attack has not yet been recovered, and the motive behind the heinous act is still under investigation.

“The accused is assisting police with inquiries,” said Inspector Msebele.

She urged members of the public to resolve disputes amicably and not resort to violence.

When the news crew arrived at the scene in the morning, scores of visibly shocked residents had gathered around the house, which had been cordoned off by police conducting preliminary investigations before the body was transported to UBH by a Tshabalala Police Station van.
