Brothers in court over a gir

A HARARE man approached the Civil Court seeking a protection order against his brother, whom he accused of physical abuse emanating from a dispute over a girlfriend.
Kenneth Karl accused his brother, Williams Karl of assaulting him using deadly objects because he wants to take his girlfriend.

“He attacked me with a screwdriver and a hammer and I sustained some injuries,” he said.
Kenneth also claimed that his brother threatened to kill him if he continued dating his girlfriend.
He told the court that since they live in the same house, Williams was now chasing him out.

“Our neighbours are aware that we are fighting over a lady, l will not leave her since l am the one who found her first,” he said.

Kenneth said he reported the matter to the police, but Williams was continuing to harass him.
He also said that he now feared staying with Williams, who also pulled out his dreadlocks and threatened him with a knife so that he would not report him to the police.

Williams denied the allegations, saying that Kenneth is the one who wants him to leave the house because his girlfriend is a drug peddler.

“l only warn my brother not to allow his girlfriend to stay at our house since she is now harbouring criminals, including thieves,” he said.
He told the court that he was afraid that one day they would end up in danger as a result of his brother’s girlfriend’s behaviour.

After both parties gave their testimonies, presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam granted the protection order in favour of Kenneth and warned Williams not to physically abuse his brother.
