Brothers injured in land dispute with neighbour

The two brothers, Mr Adams and Augustine Simbuya, were cultivating their fields in Lusulu area when a boundary misunderstanding arose between them and their neighbour Freedom Mnkombwe.
It is alleged Mnkombwe struck them several times on their heads while continuously accusing them of invading his territory.
The incident that happened under Chief Sinagonde occurred on 8 January at 7am.

Matabeleland North police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Siphiwe Makonese confirmed the incident yesterday and said the accused was arrested for attempted murder.
“I can confirm we received a report whereby two brothers were stuck by a fellow villager who claimed they were working on his piece of land. The accused is a neighbour of the brothers,” said Asst Insp Makonese.

She said the complainants were working on                their field when a misunderstanding arose          between them and the accused over the boundary of the field.
“The accused got angry and struck the elder brother once on the forehead and once on the left hand with a hoe. He went on to strike the other brother on the back of his head with the same hoe,” said Asst Insp Makonese.

She said the two men sustained deep cuts on their heads and were referred to St Luke’s Hospital and police in Lusulu attended the scene before arresting the accused.

“A report was made to police in Lusulu and they attended the scene before arresting the accused for attempted murder. Investigations are still in progress,” said Asst Insp Makonese.
